It was great to chat with you about all this; got a lot off my chest.

Probably one of the reasons for the over-focus on credentialism and managerial pursuits is a specific type of risk-aversion that derives from particular survival concerns. I constantly have fights with my parents about this.

A perpetual insanity that I'm constantly pushing back against – "What is the purpose of collecting all this status and money if I can't use it to procure things of value?" The number of Brahmins, let alone other Indians, Westernized or otherwise, who fail to understand that question drives me up the wall.

Convinced that this is not a particular racial or religious thing, as many want to believe, but just a function of the idiosyncrasies of the modern Indian nation-state and consciousness, as you allude to.

I'm also fortunate, I guess, that I am able to talk about a lot of things directly with my parents and extended family, but part of that is that I sort of don't care if they get offended. That's a form of younger-sibling privilege, which, for instance, my brother doesn't have.

Anuradha, you're probably right that I miss a lot of things because my particular personality make-up (high extraversion + high openness + medium neuroticism + medium conscientiousness) makes me both more risk-tolerant and less obedient to external authority, while I still maintain the IQ to be procedural if I have to. Both worrier & warrior, but capable of administration as the situation demands.

Extremely based for you to point out how Hindu goddesses get co-opted into the white, feminist project. Impossible to explain the deviousness of it to most white men, let alone white women.

Many more things to say, will have to come back and revisit...

I appreciate that we can have this dialogue and perhaps we both should talk sometime, because I think people could honestly use more parsing of the Indian experience given how dominant we've become in the elite.

They are good managerial capitalists because the British colonial elite devised and perfected managerial administration (look atTavistock activity in India)in India with Indian as the primary subject that this system was honed on.
