I kinda disagree about your take on Metapod. Those eyes aren't "narrowed", they're just half closed. The whole face looks sleepy to me.

I see it as facing right because the protruding part seems liek a nose
If you watch the videos, your angle is correct. He’s got angry eyes.
Hrm. It's true, I did see it as facing left. Then again, so are both of the other forms in that chain.
